SiriusXM Debuts Sotelo and More

Halloween programming to include War of the World

Satcaster SiriusXM has quite an October planned.

On Oct. 18 “El Show de Piolin” debuts, the latest from Eddie “Piolín” Sotelo. After abruptly leaving Univision Radio under controversial circumstances, the highly-rated and award-winning Sotelo has now found a home at SiriusXM.

According to a release the show should resemble his old show with “Piolin’s take on the day’s events, surprise interviews with celebrity guests, listener call-ins, pranks, music and beloved characters ‘Dona Chela,’ ‘Casimiro’ and ‘Don Poncho.’”

Leading the end of October, SiriusXM will broadcast three times Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds.” The first airing is Oct. 30, then one on Halloween and a follow-up on Nov. 1. There will also be a documentary on the production as well.

On Halloween, Art Bell plans to regale listeners with ghost stories and descriptions of paranormal encounters.

In addition a special limited run channel, Scream Radio, will fire up. A release explains that Scream Radio will provide “the ultimate scary sound-effect soundtrack for fun and fright, featuring traditional Halloween music, spooky music from classic horror films, bone-chilling ghost stories, and exclusive interviews from scare-masters including Stephen King, R.L. Stine, Ann Rice, Roger Corman, all mixed with catchy, creepy, fun scary sounds, creaking doors, footsteps, bubbling potions, breaking glass, the horrific sounds of being chased through the dark woods, hair-raising screams, the echo of dripping water and more for everyone trick-or-treating, hosting Halloween parties at home and in the office, or getting into the Halloween spirit while driving.” It starts on Oct. 25.

Many other SiriusXM programs and channels, including Martha Stewart, Kids Place Live and Radio Classics, will have special Halloween-themed programming.
