The United Kingdom has released reports on the new digital radio minimum specifications for domestic and in-vehicle receivers.
The reports are available online, and are intended to keep the country on track for its scheduled digital radio switchover in Q4 of this year. As part of the transition, the government plans to introduce a digital radio switchover certification marking for digital receivers. The requirements outlined in the report indicate what technical criteria DAB receivers must comply with in order to use the mark.
These specifications enable manufacturers to plan for product development and emphasize the government’s commitment to the switchover, says Digital Radio UK.
The government will also outline the requirements for conformance testing. These reports will be released in Q2 and will give guidance to technology providers and receiver manufacturers on the level of testing required to prove compliance with the minimum receiver specifications.
