NAB Sneak Peek: CAP-DEC1 CAP-to-EAS intermediary fills in emergency gaps

The CAP-DEC1 from emergency alert specialists Gorman-Redlich Manufacturing is a CAP-to-EAS converter that meets or exceeds all applicable specifications and helps broadcasters meet the CAP requirements using their current EAS equipment, according to the company.

The most updated version features the logging of EAS alerts in electronic format, thus eliminating the printer for EAS logs record keeping.

The CAP-DEC1 can monitor up to three URL addresses for incoming alerts. It has an onboard Intel processor, 80 GB of storage space, RS-232 serial connectivity for linking with Gorman-Redlich EAS units, USB utility and LAN network ports and built-in firewall security, SMTP, email capability. It even has audio input and output jacks.

The CAP-DEC1 is CAP 1.2-compliant.
