Each year thousands of professionals in the media, entertainment and broadcast world come together in Amsterdam in September to discover industry developments, technology and trends.

IBC2014, which takes place Sept. 11–16, promises to maintain the same momentum as its previous editions by featuring a lineup of thought-provoking conferences, workshops, technical papers, posters and more. The technical exhibition begins Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m.

IBC2014 will also host — for the fourth year — the “IBC Leaders’ Summit” on Thursday, Sept. 11. The invitation-only event, which the organizers say is “curated specifically for 150 of the most influential and visionary people at the top of the industry,” will examine the topic of “Leading Innovation and Change.”

Comprising four sessions — “Taking the Pulse,” “Embracing Change,” “The Impact of New Players” and “Preparing for the Future” — the 2014 Summit aims to answer the following question: How can big and successful electronic media and entertainment businesses maintain their competitive lead in a time of rapid innovation and accelerating change?

Speakers include David Abraham, CEO, Channel 4, U.K.; Ove Anebygd, vice president and head of Solution Area Media, Ericsson; Nicholas Bry, SVO, Orange Innovation; David Bush, marketing director, Sony Professional Solutions Europe; Ingrid Deltenre, director general, EBU; Niclas Ericson, director of TV, FIFA; Erik Huggers, senior vice president, Verizon Communications and Jette Nygaard-Andersen, EVP and CEO Pay-TV, Nordics, Modern Times Group.

Also on tap for this year’s show is the annual keynote address, which takes place on Sunday, Sept. 14, and welcomes Professor Brian Cox, physicist and multiple award-winning broadcaster. He will take part in the IBC Conference keynote session “Television’s Expanding Universe,” and will give a keynote address on the physics of television and its future evolution.

In addition to the technical exhibition, IBC2014 events of special interest for radio broadcasters include the WorldDMB “Industry Insight Session” entitled “A secure future for in-car digital broadcast radio — How to keep your content prominent and relevant in the digital dashboard.” The session will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

On Saturday Sept. 13 the Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium will hold an event entitled “DRM-Building to a Billion and Beyond,” on the Nautel stand at 8.C49, to chart the journey from “last year’s plans to this year’s reality.”

New to IBC2014 is IBC Content Everywhere Europe, which runs alongside IBC and according to the organizers, will provide a forum for discussing the latest developments and the future of digital content in Europe. The series will cover topics including media production, devices, apps, digital marketing, social media, content personalization, big data, cloud services, second screens and investment.

IBC has also announced the creation of IBC Content Everywhere MENA, which takes place Jan. 20–22, 2015, in Dubai and IBC Content Everywhere LATAM, date in 2015 to be announced, in Sao Paulo.

IBC2013 attracted more than 52,000 attendees from more than 170 countries.
