IBC Sneak Peek: Comrex Covers Interoperability

Access 2USB and STAC VIP codecs now feature Opus coding algorithm

Comrex Corporation is exhibiting updated versions of the Access 2USB IP audio codec and STAC VIP VoIP telephone talkshow System at IBC2014.

Both Access and STAC VIP now integrate the Opus coding algorithm, which provides high-quality audio with very low delay. Found in many current smartphone apps and browsers, Opus allows for greater interoperability between Comrex products and third-party devices. This enables direct connection with smartphone apps, tablets and computers to give remote contributors and talkshow callers additional wideband choices for connecting to the station.

The STAC-VIP VoIP telephone talkshow system is also now available in six- or 12-line versions. It can also be upgraded from six to 12 lines. STAC VIP supports HD Voice-quality calls and will integrate with a station’s VoIP PBX system.

In addition, Comrex announced that its BRIC Traversal Server service for the Access and BRIC-Link IP codecs has been upgraded and rebranded as Comrex Switchboard Traversal Server. This provides a better GUI and improved tools that will aid in managing groups of Access and BRIC-Link codecs both within and outside the users current fleet of codecs.
