IBC Sneak Peek: Broadcast Bionics to Show Smart Speaker Toolkit

Allows the radio audience to talk to the studio

Broadcast Bionics is introducing Smart Speaker Toolkit to allow listeners to reach the studio by voice command.

The company explains that the system permits users to contribute to a radio program without interrupting what they are doing by having to phone or text in.

In addition, it says, through information already stored in one’s smart speaker, the contribution is content fit and ready to air. For example: A listener can express his or her opinion about a specific song by saying “Alexa, tell the studio I like this song,” and the message will immediately appear in the studio’s message queue.

“Smart Speaker Tooklit means audience reaction is fresh and immediate — a rich source of new content and contributors,” said Broadcast Bionics.

Stations can connect the Smart Speaker Toolkit to Google Home, Apple HomePod and Amazon Alexa via their own apps to leverage studio content.

“An article that appeared in New Electronics in July forecast Amazon Alexa sales to hit 10 million this year, and Broadcast Bionics is keen to ensure there’s a place for radio in the fast-changing way in which audio is consumed,” concluded the firm.
