McLane to Speak at NUG@NAB

Annual Nautel event is Sunday morning of the show

Radio World Editor in Chief Paul McLane will be a guest speaker at Nautel’s Annual NUG@NAB Event in Las Vegas.

NUG, for “Nautel User’s Group,” attracts 300 or more members each year on the Sunday of the NAB Show. The meeting this year will be held at the Paris Las Vegas Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an optional Advanced User Interface (AUI) Technical Session after.

At the event, Nautel speakers and guests give product and industry updates, talk about “tips and tricks” to improve product performance and efficiency, and discuss their own innovations. The event includes complimentary hot buffet lunch with seafood, meat and pasta choices. The NUG is open to anyone interested in the company’s transmitters, it is not limited to users, but registration is required.

McLane will talk about regulatory and technical topics and trends that Radio World is following at the show. Radio World turns 40 this summer; McLane is the longest-tenured editor, having joined the publication in 1996 and been promoted to editor not long after. He was an award-winning radio news anchor and is a former broadcast technology sales and marketing executive. During his tenure, Radio World launched Radio World Engineering Extra and the Radio World Excellence in Engineering Award program, now in its 13th year of honoring leading radio engineers and technologists.

Also at the event, Jeff Detweiler of DTS Inc. will discuss HD Radio ROI, and Brad Parsons of WMEX will discuss MDCL and advanced audio processing. Several Nautel executives will speak including Kevin Rodgers, Chuck Kelly and Jeff Welton. FM Project Leader Scott Marchand will give an engineering update, and Research Engineer Philipp Schmid will speak about HD single-frequency networks and new HD products.
