BMI President, CEO Del Bryant to Retire Next Year
Broadcast Music, Inc.’s President and CEO Del Bryant will retire in June 2014. The company says the decision will begin “an orderly leadership transition” as the board of directors has formed a committee to determine a successor.
Bryant is the son of the late Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, who wrote Tennessee’s state song — “Rocky Top” — and several of the Everly Brothers hits. In 1978, Bryant wrote his own Top 5 country number, “I Cheated on a Good Woman’s Love,” recorded by Billy Crash Craddock.
“I began my career with BMI in 1972 and after four decades with the company and 10 years as CEO, I’m excited to be moving back to my hometown of Nashville where my family and I will build a farm on beautiful land purchased by my folks with money earned from their BMI catalog,” Bryant said. He will consult for BMI after he leaves.
