CBI Reports Increased Turnout for Electronic Media Convention

College Broadcasters Inc.’s second annual national conference saw increase in attendance

Approximately 400 students, college faculty and staff members and media professionals joined College Broadcasters Inc. for the second annual National Student Electronic Media Convention this past weekend, which over the course of three days featured 90 educational and networking sessions and events, according to a release.

CBI Inc. also reported that paid registrations this year went up by 20%.

Among highlights, keynote speaker Dean McFlicker, vice president and creative director for NBC Entertainment Marketing, gave a presentation on “Secrets to Career Success: How to Market Yourself in an Increasingly Broadcast-Savvy Multi-media World.” And the Student Production Awards, which recognize “the best work in video, television and radio,” according to CBI, gave out accolades in 24 categories, honoring four finalists and one winner out of a reported 700 entries.

A list of winners, and clips of the winning work, is available on the CBI San Antonio website, under the “Awards” tab.

The 2014 National Student Electronic Media Convention will be held next year in Seattle. For more information, follow CBI on Twitter @askcbi and visit askcbi.org/seattle.
