Clear Channel Media and Entertainment San Francisco says longtime Market President JD Freeman will retire May 21, and that Katie Wilcox has been named his successor.

Freeman has been in the broadcasting industry for more than 43 years and with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment for the past 18. At Clear Channel, he has held leadership roles in the Phoenix, Dallas and Santa Barbara markets and served as senior vice president of operations for the Southwest Region.

As Market President, Wilcox will oversee San Francisco’s overall operations including all station activities and events to help drive sales and achieve revenue targets. She will leverage the market’s assets to generate new revenue while providing quality programming, a release says.

Wilcox has been promoted from within Clear Channel San Francisco, where she has served as vice president of sales since 2009, leading a team of more than 50 sellers, managers and staff. She joined the cluster in 2006 as general sales manager. Her prior roles include positions as local and general sales manager at CBS in Portland and San Francisco, as well as director at CBS Promotions Group.

Clear Channel San Francisco operates KIOI(FM), KISQ(FM), KKSF(AM), KMEL(FM), KNEW(AM), KOSF(FM) and KYLD(FM).
