Media Services Group has named Eddie Esserman as managing director; George Reed is stepping down from the role after 13 years. Will Cate also joins the media brokerage firm as research director.
Esserman has been a director of the media brokerage firm for almost 20 years based at offices on St. Simons Island, Ga. Following a career in management in Atlanta and San Francisco, Esserman built a group of radio stations in small and unrated markets in the southeast. Along with Reed, he co-owns tower group US Antenna and co-founded Inside Towers.
Esserman is a member of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and has served on the boards of both the NAB and GAB. In 2011, Esserman was appointed by the Department of Justice to serve as the trustee for a mandated divestiture of three stations as a result of the Cumulus-Citadel merger. He has also testified as an expert witness in bankruptcy matters and been a court appointed broker and Trustee.
Cate is a broadcaster, voice artist and software developer, with online corporate communications as his chief focus. He became involved with media brokerage in the 1980s, when he managed computer and network technology for Chapman Associates in Atlanta and Washington.
