Hadfield Named CE for Alpha Broadcasting

This is a new position for a new radio group

Alpha Broadcasting, owned by Larry Wilson, has named Marty Hadfield as its corporate engineer and director of engineering for the Portland cluster.

This is a new position for Alpha and effective Dec. 15.

We reported on Hadfield two years ago when he opened a broadcast consultancy, The Hadfield Group. One of his first major clients was Jump2Go, where he had been working on HD Radio tagging, RDS radio tagging and iTunes fulfillment directly from radio station Web sites.

Prior to that, Hadfield was vice president of engineering for Entercom Communications for 17 years. His other engineering career includes stints as corporate director of engineering for SRO Broadcasting and a TV/radio special projects engineer for Fisher Broadcasting in Seattle.

Alpha owns six stations in Portland, Ore. In May, Wilson led the company’s first station acquisitions, the purchase of KXL(AM) and KXTG(FM) from Rose City Radio. This summer, Alpha purchased another four Portland stations for from CBS Radio: KINK(FM), KUPL(FM), KUFO(FM) and KCMD(AM).

Alpha COO Bob Profitt made the Hadfield announcement.
