Hear Now Festival Adds Vance

Festival focuses on the art of the voice

The Hear Now Festival has added Simon Vance to its guest list of presenters. Vance will be performing at the Golden Voice Narrators portion of the festival, June 21. He is a 10-time Audie Award winner and will be performing other noted audio book narrators such as Scott Brick, Barbara Rosenblat and Robin Miles. Audies are the Oscars of audio book narration.

The Hear Now Festival, June 19–22, Kansas City, Mo., focuses on narration and spoken word entertainment.

It describes itself as “the audio equivalent of a film festival for contemporary audio story-telling in all its forms: live and scripted solo performances, multivoiced, classic radio drama, experimental narrative, and much more.”

It will show a film about a number of well-known cartoon voiceover and narration artists, feature a session on the sound design of video games, perform audio theater and stage comedy along with conducting numerous dramatic book readings and workshops devoted to the craft. It will include a group of “Mark Twains” reading from his books.
