Brian Hall
iHeartMedia has named Chris Berry as SVP of news, talk and sports programming. Regionally, Brian Hall has been chosen as senior vice president of programming for Asheville, N.C., and across the border, Kix Layton has been tapped as SVP of programming for Greenville, S.C.
Berry will oversee news, talk and sports brands, where he’ll provide strategic guidance for spoken word formats. He will also continue to serve as SVP/general manager for NBC News Radio and 24/7 News Network.
Berry has over 30 years of spoken word programming experience. He began his career as a news producer at WHBQ(TV) in Memphis, Tenn., before joining CBS Radio in Los Angeles in 1982. Berry’s background also includes overseeing news programming at radio stations in Los Angeles, Washington and Chicago, and serving as VP and general manager of news for ABC News Radio in New York. He joined 24/7 News Network as SVP and GM in March 2011 and has spearheaded NBC News Radio’s editorial content since syndication began the network in July 2016.
Brian Hall will be responsible for spearheading the programming, promotions and digital strategies for all six stations in the Asheville market.
Kix Layton
Hall has worked in the iHeartMedia Asheville and Greenville markets for 15 years, 22 years total with iHeart, most recently serving as program director for WWNC(AM) and WPEK(AM) in Asheville and WGVL(AM) in Greenville, where he was responsible for all on-air content and sports play by play. He also previously served as a local sales manager for iHeartMedia Asheville and an affiliation relations director for Premiere Networks.
iHeartMedia Asheville owns and operates WWNC, WPEK, WKSF(HD2), WKSF(FM), WQNQ(FM) and WQNS(FM).
Kix Layton will be responsible for all on-air and digital content and music programming. He previously worked as the PD for WESC(FM), where he oversaw on-air content and music programming. He also served as the program director for WSSL(FM) for 17 years.
iHeartMedia Greenville owns and operates WSSL, WESC, WMYI(FM), WROO(FM) and WGVL.
