iHeartMedia Names St. Louis Region President

Also taps Kapugi as VP of programming for DC/Baltimore and names Greensboro station PD

Derrick Martin

iHeartMedia has named Derrick Martin as president for the St. Louis Region, and Jeff Kapugi has been named region senior vice president of programming for Washington and Baltimore, as well as serve as the program director for WMZQ(FM). iHeartMedia Greensboro also announced Casey Carter has been named PD for WTQR(FM), effective April 17.

As region president, Martin will work with the programming, business and sales teams for radio station brands in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids/Iowa City and Davenport, Iowa, and St. Louis and Springfield, Mo. He will report to iHeartMedia Midwest/Southeast Division President Tom McConnell.

Martin most recently served as market president for iHeartMedia’s Norfolk, Va., market. Before overseeing iHeartMedia Norfolk, he spent more than five years as general sales manager for iHeartMedia St. Louis.

Jeff Kapugi

Martin began his career as an account executive at iHeartMedia’s Memphis market and has also worked in various sales positions in the Chicago and Detroit markets for the company. He has also served as interactive sales general manager for Radio One.

iHeartMedia St. Louis includes 33 radio stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.

Jeff Kapugi will work with radio station personalities and program directors to oversee on-air content, music programming, as well as oversee digital and social media for all radio station brands in the Washington, D.C., region.

He began his radio career at iHeartMedia in 1989, where he held several positions, including program director and operations manager for stations in Tampa, Fla., St. Louis and Washington/Baltimore. He later spent two years as the SVP and chief operating officer for Tribune Interactive. Most recently, Kapugi served as the vice president of programming for CBS Radio in Chicago, where he oversaw 11 country music stations and handled day-to-day duties as PD of WUSN(FM) in Chicago.

Casey Carter

iHeartMedia’s Washington region includes WIHT(FM), WASH(FM), WWDC(FM), WMZQ, WBIG(FM) and WWDC(HD2) in Washington and WPOC(FM), WZFT(FM), WDSR(FM) and WCAO(FM) in Baltimore.

In Greensboro, N.C., new WTQR Program Director Casey Carter will work closely with on-air personalities and sales to oversee on-air, digital and music programming, as well as, booking artist appearances and interviews for the station brand and local events. She previously worked at WKKT(FM) in Charlotte, where she served as both assistant program director and midday host for the country-formatted station.

iHeartMedia Greensboro owns and operates WPTI(FM), WMAG(FM), WMKS(FM), WTQR and WVBZ(FM).
