Jeff Brock has died. He was 51.
According to an announcement from Graham Brock Broadcast Technical Consultants, Brock passed away Sunday after an 11-month fight with cancer.
The company said details for a memorial service and celebration of his life have not been finalized. He died at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
According to a biography on the company website, Brock was the firm’s vice president. It recalled that he had “an uncanny ability to recall the call letters, transmitter information, class, etc.” for just about every station he dealt with, and that he had been active in the broadcast engineering field since 1979.
He specialized in consulting work involving FM, LPFM, TV and DTV stations, and provided engineering services for clients in the continental United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, the biography stated. He was active in broadcast associations and appeared as an expert witness in broadcast engineering matters before civil courts. He also testified before local planning boards on tower site matters.
Stu Graham told Radio World today that Jeff Brock also was instrumental in the creation of a radio and television closed-circuit system at Oglethorpe Elementary School on Saint Simons Island. He was active in youth sports in Glynn County, Ga., and was an avid bicycle rider and baseball fan.
Brock was married with three children.
