Jim Meyer Now SiriusXM CEO

Executive has been with the satcaster since 2004

Jim Meyer is officially the new chief executive officer for SiriusXM.

He had been in an interim role since December when Mel Karmazin left, we reported.

SiriusXM Chairman George Maffei said Meyer has been with the satcaster for nearly a decade and the executive’s knowledge of SiriusXM’s business, combined with his industry expertise will be “invaluable assets in the highly competitive market within which SiriusXM is thriving.”

Before his appointment to the interim CEO position in December, Meyer had been president of sales and operations for the satcaster since May, 2004. Previously, he was president of Aegis Ventures, a general management consulting company; SiriusXM was a client. Before Aegis, Meyer held several senior management positions in consumer electronics, including senior executive vice president of Digital Media Solutions for Thomson.
