Louisville Public Media Acquires Calendar Service Do502

Free service allows people to find out what’s happening locally

Seeking to build on local connections, Louisville Public Media in Kentucky has acquired the assets of a calendar service called Do502.

“LPM will partner with Austin-based DoStuff Media to continue operating Do502.com and the Do502 app and to expand the calendar to include a broad range of cultural, sports, family, educational and community events,” the broadcaster said.

Do502 — the name is a riff on a local telephone area code — launched three years ago and has about 40,000 registered users. It becomes part of non-profit Louisville Public Media, which runs three community-supported FM stations as well as the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. LPM also manages the Ohio Valley ReSource, a collaboration of broadcast organizations in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio. The announcement was made by LPM President Michael Skoler and Do502 co-founder Jeffrey Smith.

The calendar service, LPM stated, is “a free service that allows people to find out what’s happening in the city, share events with friends, and easily buy tickets or enter sweepstakes to win tickets.”
