New Hampshire Public Radio Selects New Program Director

Michael Rathke takes on leadership of NHPR programming department

New Hampshire Public Radio has added public radio manager and programmer Michael Rathke as its new program director. Rathke most recently worked as director of radio for Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Rathke will be based in Concord, coordinating NHPR’s schedule, as well as Classical New Hampshire, The Exchange and Word of Mouth programs.

This will not be Rathke’s first stint at NHPR; from 1995–97, he worked at NHPR as an announcer/producer and music director.

He has served as radio program director at WOSU Public Media in Columbus, Ohio, WFCR (FM) in Amherst, Mass., the former WCAL in Northfield, Minn., and the Northwest Public Radio regional network based in Pullman, Wash.

Rathke has worked in public radio since 1986, serving in a variety of programming, hosting and operations capacities.

NHPR is broadcast from 13 sites within the state and has an estimated weekly audience of 184,000 listeners.
