SummitMedia Ups Sloatman to VP of Engineering

He’s been promoted from role as Richmond director of engineering and IT

SummitMedia has promoted Dennis Sloatman to vice president of engineering, the company announced Tuesday. He was most recently director of engineering and IT for the company’s Richmond, Va., stations.

According to the release, Sloatman will manage engineering and strategic planning for Birmingham, Ala.; Richmond, Va.; Louisville, Ky.; Greenville, S.C.; and Honolulu. He will be based in Virginia and will continue to directly oversee the Richmond market’s engineering.

Prior to joining SummitMedia, Sloatman served as vice president of engineering for iHeartMedia Los Angeles. Before that, he was director of engineering for Cox Media Group in Richmond, where he was named Cox Media Group Market Engineering Manager of the Year in 2012. He has served as a chief engineer in numerous locations including Orlando, Fla.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Richmond.

He has 48 years of industry experience, and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida College of Engineering.

Sloatman also is a regular contributor to Radio magazine.

According to the announcement, SummitMedia “is an integrated broadcasting, digital media, direct marketing, and events company.”
