SVP of Programming Re-Signs with CBS Radio

Weatherly continues programming efforts in L.A.

Kevin Weatherly, senior vice president of programming at CBS Radio, has signed a multiyear contract renewal to remain in his lead programming role. Weatherly has been with CBS Radio and KROQ for 20 years, and he will continue to serve in Los Angeles, also acting as program director of KROQ(FM), KAMP(FM) and KCBS(FM), while playing a role in the launch of new stations and brand evolution.

President and CEO of CBS Radio Dan Mason called Weatherly “one of the most influential and respected programmers in the music industry today.”

“He has the uncanny ability to cultivate and grow a station into a market leader, as evidenced by his work with KROQ, KAMP and KCBS,” said Steve Carver, senior vice president/market manager for CBS Radio Los Angeles.

Weatherly’s career in radio began at age 12 at KPIN(FM) in Casa Grande, Ariz. From 1983–87, he worked as a disc jockey and music director at KZZP(FM) in Phoenix. Weatherly became the music director for KMEL(FM) in San Francisco in 1987. From there, Weatherly became music director at Los Angeles’ KIIS(FM) in 1988. In 1989, he served as assistant program director at KKLQ(FM) in San Diego, later earning a promotion to program director. In 1992, he moved to L.A.’s KROQ.

Weatherly is credited with recruiting radio personalities including Carson Daly and Booker and also organizing station-sponsored concerts for listeners.
