WBA Announces Summer Conference

Convenes June 19–20 at the Osthoff Resort

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association will host its Summer Conference June 19–20 at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

The conference’s first day is dubbed Engineering Day, and it starts off with the annual golf tournament. The day has technical sessions and features a working lunch with a session devoted to figuring out and monetizing social media. A job fair follows in the afternoon along with a session, “Compliance With the FCC’s EEO Nondiscrimination and Outreach Regulations — Part 4.”

Engineering Day technical sessions include, “Computer Network Security,” “Physical Plant Security,” “Emergency Information Dissemination,” “Single Point of Failure (in Studio),” “Engineer’s Toolbox,” “Wireless IP Transmission,” “Non Traditional IP Microwave Link” and “IP Theory and Configuration.” Speakers will include Chris Crump, Gary Timm and Radio World Contributing Editor John Bisset.

The day concludes with an Exhibitor Reception and a dinner/lakeside bonfire.

June 20 will include a business breakfast and economic update for attendees. The day’s morning session is entitled “Think Like an Adman and Sell Like a Madman,” which precedes a keynote luncheon featuring former NFL star for the Green Bay Packers and now businessman/motivational speaker Willie Davis and moderator, WISN(TV)’s Dean Maytag.

Maytag will also moderate the afternoon session, during which Meagan Johnson, C.S.P., will speak about how to “Zap the Gap in a Multigenerational Workforce.” They will round out the day with a legislative update before capping the event with the WBA 2013 Hall of Fame inductions, dinner and reception.
