NABEF, BEA Accepting Entries for PSA Contest

5.09.2008

Clever college students have a chance to win some dough and promote free speech at the same time.

The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation and the Broadcast Education Association are accepting entries for a public service announcement competition for college students in recognition of National Freedom of Speech Week.

Each year, the third week of October is designated as National Freedom of Speech Week. PSA entries can be produced and submitted in radio or television format and should be 25 seconds in length. The spots should address “What Freedom of Speech Means to Me.”

Winning radio entries will receive scholarship prizes of $1,000 to $3,000.

In addition to the scholarships, winning PSA entries will be made available to radio and television stations nationwide for airing starting during Freedom of Speech Week (Oct. 20–26).

Entries must be submitted by Sept. 15.
