CNC, a Chinese telecom company, is using APT WorldNet Oslo and WorldNet Rio units to broadcast from the Beijing Olympics.
The China Netcom Group is the fixed-line telecommunications partner of the 2008 Olympic Games. APT said CNC required new equipment to deliver multiple audio services from the Olympics over terrestrial and satellite links.
APT’s Guy Gampell stated that the first round of testing for this application was in late 2007. He said CNC is using the units primarily for low-bandwidth voice commentaries distributed worldwide over fibre and satellite links. The interface throughout the network is G.703 E1.
