NAB Sneak Peek: Tieline Announces Upgrades to Firmware

Firmware adds new features to Genie, Merlin and Bridge-IT codecs

Tieline Technology has launched the upgraded v2.16.xx firmware that will be shown at the 2017 NAB Show. This new firmware is designed to add a slew of new features to the audio codec manufacturer’s Genie, Merlin and Bridge-IT codecs, while slaying a Java bug.

One such feature is that Tieline has integrated program creation into the HTML5 Toolbox web-browser graphical user interface for the Genie, Merlin and Bridge-IT codecs. The new Toolbox HTML5 GUI is able to run on all modern browsers as well as Mac, Windows and Linux computers.

A new program scheduler for the Merlin, Merlin Plus, Genie STL and Genie Distribution codecs is also available. This automatically connects and disconnects scheduled programs using a calendar-based user interface and adds features like drag and dropping programs into the scheduler; customization of time-zones; day, week, month, list and timeline views; easily adjustable schedule times; and the ability to automatically switch program types from dialing to answering.

The new firmware also includes support for Fuse-IP network bonding in all Genie, Merlin and Bridge-IT codecs, allowing all codecs to use Fuse-IP when connecting to Tieline’s ViA remote codec and other G5 codecs.

Additional features with the v2.16.xx firmware include added Wi-Fi connectivity for Genie and Merlin codecs; enhanced Genie output backup options; deterministic SIP routing; adding six SIP user accounts and two SIP interfaces; WheatNet-IP logic in WheatNet codecs; round-robin call answering in Merlin and Genie codecs; codec caller IDs; and codec upgrades using a USB stick or SD card. The upgrade is free.
