NPR Adds to NPR One Offerings

Podcast choice political spectrum expanded

For those who think the scale of podcasts on NPR’s NPR One podcast app might be stuck leaning to the left, there’s news — new items on the menu are from Ricochet and National Review.

NPR One Managing Director Tamar Charney said, “We are broadening your perspectives by purposefully offering podcast selections that are ideologically different than what you normally listen to.”

NPR Senior Vice President of News Michael Oreskes said, “NPR One prides itself on editorial responsibility. This application is designed to provide listeners with critical news and information as well as diverse perspectives. Our mission has always focused on creating a more informed public, and we are committed to providing balanced coverage that offers listeners greater breadth and the serendipity of discovering something new.”

Ricochet Audio Network Scott Immergut said, “In the five years we’ve been building the Ricochet Audio Network, we’ve often described ourselves as and aspired to be the ‘center-right NPR.’ So it’s very cool to finally actually beon NPR.”

Also new to the menu are podcasts from Vox and Crooked Media, a start-up helmed by former Pres. Obama speechwriters Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, along with former Obama advisor Tommy Vietor.
