Radio Show: Student Scholars Program Now Open

Undergraduate and graduate students planning a career in radio are invited to apply for the Radio Show Student Scholars Program.

Undergraduate and graduate students planning a career in radio are invited to apply for the Radio Show Student Scholars Program. The program will award registration scholarships to more than 200 college students to attend the 2017 Radio Show in Austin, Sept. 5–8. The Radio Show is produced by the Radio Advertising Bureau and the National Association of Broadcasters. The program, managed by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), includes participation in the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF)/BEA Career Fair and Student Scholars Orientation held at the show.

“Now in its third year, the Radio Show Student Scholar Program provides students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of radio,” said Heather Birks, executive director of BEA. “We develop a Radio Show orientation and track just for the Student Scholars so they walk away with invaluable industry connections, timely information and a phone full of the contact information of students sharing similar goals.”

With the support of 29 radio groups and associate businesses, the Student Scholars Program offers students’ access to the Career Fair, conference orientation and a series of special networking events, entertainment and educational content geared towards students. In addition, the students will be able to participate in the conference’s management, content creation, sales, marketing, advertising, research, legal, technology and young professionals sessions.

“This year we are offering additional time for the students to connect with professionals and with each other, to share insight into the business, tips on meeting people and navigating the conference,” said Birks. “We want them to walk away from the Radio Show feeling a positive sense of what the industry has to offer aspiring radio professionals.”
