Radio TechCon is rolling out the welcoming mat for the 2017 edition of its conference, announcing a pair of bursary programs that seek to make it easier for individuals and organizations to attend.

Organizers explain that the Personal Bursary is intended for people with issues like financial restraints or who are underrepresented in the engineering industry, i.e. people with disabilities, LGBTQI+, BAME and women. Personal Bursaries are sponsored by Babcock Communications Limited.

There are five Personal Bursaries available; the deadline for application is Oct. 23. Applications must be filled out here, and entrants must explain how they will share what they learned at Radio TechCon.

There is also the Organizational Bursaries, which have already been awarded to the Student Radio Association, Community Media Association and Sound Women Network. Each organization has received three free tickets to distribute to their members as they wish. These bursaries were sponsored by Broadcast Bionics, Arqiva, the IET, Broadcast Radio and RCS.

Radio TechCon has also announced that it will offer discounts for tickets to members of The Radio Academy, Student Radio Association, Sound Women Network, Community Media Association, Hospital Broadcasting Association, Radio Independents Group, Audio Engineering Society and IET.

In addition, a number of session topics have been announced, including looks into the emerging 5G standards, latest on Audio over IP, covering the #onelovemanchester event, Smart Speakers and broadcast history archives.
