South Carolina Broadcasters Association Announces Winter Conference Slate

Registration for annual conference is open until Jan. 17

Planting its flag as one of the first conferences of 2018, the South Carolina Broadcasters Association has released its planned schedule for its annual SCBA Winter Conference.

The one-day conference will host an all-day engineering seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. that will focus on topics that include “IT Security for the Broadcast Facility,” “TV Repack and ATSC 3.0 Update,” “Reducing TCO of TV and FM Transmission Systems” and “The Care and Feeding of Your Broadcast Antenna.” A sales seminar will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon with the presentation “From Surviving to Thriving in Sales,” while a sales management seminar, titled “Managing and Motivating a Distracted, Overwhelmed Sales Force,” will run from 1:30–3 p.m.

The SCBA conference will also host the Awards of Distinction reception (6–7 p.m.) and dinner (7–10 p.m.). During the dinner, SCBA will hand out its Masters Award to John Cessarich, WYFF News 4’s chief meteorologist; Jay Bender will receive the Honorary SCBA Life Membership; and Rich O’Dell, president and general manager for WLTX(TV) and former president of SCBA and the SCBA Educational Foundation, will be inducted into the SCBA Hall of Fame.

The 2018 SCBA Winter Conference will take place on Jan. 25 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Registration is open until Jan. 17. For more information, visit www.scba.net.
