iHeartMedia Boston Simulcasts WBZ on HD2

Two additional Boston simulcast changes on HD2s

Perhaps it’s another offshoot from recent ownership changes. Large media outlets are shuffling content to fill their HD2 slots. In Boston, iHeartMedia announced that legacy news-talk giant WBZ(AM) will be simulcast on WXKS(FM)/Kiss 108’s HD2 channel.

Kiss 108 began HD2 broadcasting in January of 2006, with a format described by [then] Clear Channel as the “Artist’s Channel.” That was eventually replaced by a “New CHR” format. After that the HD2 channel simulcasted conservative talk station WXKS(AM) 1200. Most recently the format was Evolution (an EDM format).

Other changes in the iHeartMedia Boston lineup include Evolution 101.7, Boston’s Source for All Things Dance will begin simulcasting on WBWL(FM)/The Bull’s HD2. WRKO(AM) 680, The Voice of Boston will be simulcast on WZLX(FM)’s HD2. All changes are effective immediately.

Currently, iHeartMedia Boston owns and operates WXKS(FM/AM), WJMN(FM), WBWL(FM), WZLX, WKAF(FM), WBZ and WRKO.
