The author works as a contract engineer for KCBC, Crawford Broadcasting and KACA Daystar Television. He began his electronics career at a television repair shop at age 16, after which he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and became an Electronics Technician First Class. His first radio job was as the chief engineer for an AM/FM combo in Klamath Falls, Ore., in 1980. In 1986 he moved to California and since has worked at several broadcast groups in that area. He has helped with construction, tuning and proofs of a number of AM directional antenna systems in several western states. He holds an Amateur Extra license, W6VCR, and has been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1972.
