Small places, abandoned places and weird places

Sometimes the internet seems to have the weirdest, most unusual, or most unbelievable stories. Beside the many educational resources on the internet, there’s plenty of entertainment as well. For this Off the Beaten Path, we’ll jump all over the place on the net for some interesting, different, or unusual pages.

Weird Things Astronauts Have Seen in Space

Whether “space eels”, aliens, space ships, or space junk, astronauts over the years have seen some crazy stuff in space! What is it? Who knows. For now, it remains unexplained.

Hidden in Plain Sight

Here’s an interesting website that shows some creative creations that are “hidden in plain sight.” I’m not quite sure if this is accurately described. As you look at the different items, what it really appears to be is just items or technology modified in unique ways.

Different Ways to Make Money

Here are different suggestions on how “guys” can make money (though to be fair ... it’s really ways PEOPLE could make money). I didn’t see “stuffing envelopes from home,” but it might fit in with some of these ideas nicely. Some of these look a bit “scammy,” so if you decide to do some of these, do so at your own risk.

Tiny Apartments

Friends who rent in NYC would probably say some of these are castles! As someone who lived in the Dallas area (where houses and apartments all seemed to be excessively large), these really are small. Some of these are pretty cool, and some seem like “pet cages”! One is 16 square feet! If you’re claustrophobic, you might avoid this link.

Different Photographers … Different Views

This is an interesting link as the subject is the same guy, but how he’s viewed by six different photographers.

DIY Fails

Most engineers are “DIY” people (Do It Yourself). Often we have to find a creative way to resolve a problem Here are some DIY’s from NON-engineers that are good for a laugh (or cringe!).

Vacation Getaway?

Looking for that next vacation getaway and tired of the crowds? Here’s a link of abandoned islands. Not promising a fun or great vacation, but these appear to be “memorable.”

Abandoned Towns

If the abandoned islands don’t meet your needs, here are five abandoned towns that are you may also want to avoid.
