The corporate structure of which digital technology platform HD Radio is a part has been evolving quickly; now Tessera Holding Corp., the new parent company of HD Radio owner DTS Inc., has changed its name to Xperi Corp.
The company’s Nasdaq symbol changes from TSRA to XPER.
DTS is a subsidiary of Xperi, as are FotoNation, Invensas and Tessera. The parent entity has about 700 employees in total; Tom Lacey is CEO.
It was just a few months ago that Tessera Holding announced its $850 million deal to acquire DTS, and only a year or so before that DTS entered into an agreement to acquire HD Radio developer iBiquity Digital Corp.
Xperi describes itself as a product and technology licensing company: “Our technologies and intellectual property are deployed in areas such as premium audio, computational imaging, computer vision, mobile computing and communications, memory, data storage, 3D semiconductor interconnect and packaging. We invent smart sight and sound technologies that enhance and help to transform the human connected experience.”
