Germany: DAB+ Transmission Site Changes, Additions

The national DAB+ network is getting four more transmission sites

The Wittenberg DAB+ site in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, is settling in to its new channel after it officially moved on June 30.

Previously on channel 12C, the DAB+ site is now on channel 11C. The move reportedly has helped the Wittenberg and Dessau areas improve reception.

In addition, the approvals for the Naumburg and Zeitz sites expired on June 30, causing some supply gaps in the south of Saxony-Anhalt. In the meantime, a new transmitter is being planned at the Pettstädt site, which is expected to supply the area through channel 11C.

Media Broadcast, the country’s largest transmission provider, is adding four additional national DAB+ digital radio transmission sites to its nationwide DAB+ digital radio network, broadcasting on Channel 5C.

The focus of the development, says Media Broadcast, is in the Lower Saxony and Brandenburg regions.
