WorldDAB to Hold Digital Radio Workshop

“DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific” will take place during the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium

Details for WorldDAB’s annual Digital Radio Workshop, which is scheduled to take place during the 2017 ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium, have been announced. Titled “DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific,” the workshop plans to cover DAB+ digital radio developments, an introduction to hybrid radio, the business case for implementing DAB+ and the benefits of DAB+ in smartphones.

Speakers for this year’s workshop will include Joan Warner, Asia Pacific chair of WorldDAB and CEO of Commercial Radio Australia; the BBC’s Lindsay Cornell; Lee Sabel and Bernie O’Neill from WorldDAB; Nick Piggott from RadioDNS; and Jørn Jensen from NRK in Norway.

Another part of the workshop will feature breakout sessions, where participants will focus on three aspects of digital radio—regulation, technology and developing new content on DAB+—and then have each group nominate a spokesperson to present a summary of their discussion, with key findings being published. WorldDAB also announced that it will have a DAB+ pavilion available to attendees featuring supply chain companies with a presence in Asia Pacific.

The ABU 2017 Digital Broadcasting Symposium will take place from March 6–9 in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. The “DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific” workshop will take place on March 6.
