Connecticut Broadcasters Offer Scholarships

Connecticut high school and college students still have time to submit an application for the Connecticut Broadcasters Association’s 2015 Scholarship Awards

AVON, CONN.� Connecticut high school and college students still have time to submit an application for the Connecticut Broadcasters Association�s 2015 Scholarship Awards. �

Scholarships will range from one-year grants of $2,500, to the $5,000 �Nelson Brown Scholarship,� to the �Paul K. Taff Scholarship� which awards a total of $10,000 in grants over a four-year period.

Eligible candidates must be a Connecticut resident; pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, communications, marketing, engineering, electronics, or other broadcast-related subjects; attending or planning to attend any in-state or out-of-state university, college, two-year community college or technical college; and entering their first, second, third or fourth year of college.�

Scholarships will be awarded based upon either the basis of need and/or demonstrated talent. Talent may be determined in part by the individual�s broadcasting goals, current academic average, extracurricular activities involving the electronic media, need and recommendations from faculty, employers and others and/or on the basis of need. Financial need documentation is required.

Applications can be downloaded online but must be mailed using the USPS to arrive by the March 13 deadline.�

The CBA was established in 1955, and since that time, it has awarded over $650,000 in scholarship funds.
