Datta Is New Audio Precision CTO

Former assistant vice president for audio R&D at THX joins audio test equipment manufacturer

Jayant Datta, Audio PrecisionAudio test and measurement equipment manufacturer Audio Precision has named Jayant Datta as its new chief technology officer.

He will oversee the organization’s technology strategy, product platform evolution and innovation efforts, and will also collaborate with Vice President of Engineering Tom Kite and Co-Founder and Chief Analog Engineer Bruce Hofer.

Datta most recently served as assistant vice president for audio research and development at THX Ltd. He has two-plus decades of audio experience and a track record of developing and implementing audio technologies across a broad range of industries and applications, the announcement said. In addition to his corporate career and various roles with Discrete Laboratories, Motorola and Wheatstone, Datta has been an adjunct professor with Syracuse University’s Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Dept. since 1999.

“His design experience, broad audio expertise, and standards-based work will be key assets as we strive to continue bringing innovative solutions to audio and electro-acoustic test applications in a wide array of markets,” said Audio Precision CEO Dave Schmoldt.
