iHeart LA Ups Irwin to VP of Engineering

Also names SVP for Savannah/Hilton Head and PD for La Preciosa

iHeartMedia Los Angeles has promoted Doug Irwin to vice president of engineering for the region, reporting to iHeartMedia Los Angeles Region President Kevin LeGrett.

Effective immediately, Irwin will oversee the 10-station group, which includes KIIS(FM), KFI(AM), KOST(FM) and KBIG(FM). Irwin replaces Dennis Sloatman, who left the company this month to work for SummitMedia in Richmond, Va.

Most recently, Irwin had worked as iHeartMedia’s Los Angeles director of engineering. Prior to that, Irwin spent six years in the New York cluster as the transmissions system supervisor for the group. He also worked as director of engineering for Clear Channel Seattle and as the director of engineering for Clear Channel San Francisco.

He is a longtime contributor and also the technical editor for Radio World’s sister publication Radio magazine, a position he has held since March 2015.

In other iHeartMedia news, Bob Neumann has been named senior vice president of programming for iHeart Savannah (Ga.)/Hilton Head (S.C.) market.

Neumann will work with the market’s program directors and on-air personalities to manage on-air content and music programming for all radio station brands in Savannah/ Hilton Head.

Neumann previously worked as the PD for several stations in markets including: KHMX(FM) Houston; WSJT(FM) in Tampa, Fla., and WRMF(FM) in West Palm Beach, Fla. He has also served as operations manager for Adventure Radio Savannah.

iHeartMedia Savannah/ Hilton Head operates WAEV(FM), WQBT(FM), WYKZ(FM), WLVH(FM), WTKS(AM), WSOK(AM).

Finally, Jose Gadea has been named program director for iHeartMedia’s Hispanic-oriented La Preciosa Network. He will report to Jeff Negrete, general manager for La Preciosa Network, and will be based out of Fresno, Calif.

Gadea will be responsible for devising and executing La Preciosa Network’s branding strategies. Along with the programming provided to all La Preciosa Network affiliates, he will oversee daily operations at the network’s flagship radio station brand, KFSO(FM) in the Fresno market.

Gadea previously worked as a PD for Uniradio. He has also served as a program director at radio stations for Univision, Emmis, Border Media, and Heftel.

La Preciosa Network includes brands and franchises in cities including Sioux City, Iowa; Salinas/Monterey, Calif.; Bakersfield, Calif.; Riverside, Calif.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; and San Antonio.
