NAB Names New VP of Research

Former Nat Geo Channels exec director of programming and consumer research joins advocacy group

WASHINGTON � Daniel McDonald has been tapped to lead research for the National Association of Broadcasters. He will fill the vacancy left by Tanya Van Pool and will report to Senior Vice President of Communications Ann Marie Cumming.

NAB Research provides data and analysis to support advocacy initiatives and public policy objectives, monitors developments in media measurement practices and methodologies, conducts surveys and compiles data for NAB members.

McDonald is the former executive director of programming and consumer research at National Geographic Channels. In this role, he supervised audience research for National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Nat Geo Mundo, in addition to managing primary research projects and public opinion polling, according to the release.

Prior to that, McDonald served as director of programming and research at CBS�s WBBM(TV) in Chicago and later joined Comcast Spotlight, where he became divisional director of research for the southern division. McDonald also worked in various research roles for Paramount Stations Group, WPSG(TV) in Philadelphia and KTXA(TV) in Dallas.
