INDIANAPOLIS � In a nod to its radio roots, Emmis-owned FM hybrid listening app NextRadio just gave away $10,000, according to its blog. The winner of its $10,000 Extreme Cash Contest was Warren, Mich.�s Duane R.�
The contest ran from October to December of last year, and participants were invited to enter when they first downloaded the NextRadio app and additional entries each day they came back and listened in the app. Duane only entered the contest once.
NextRadio quoted Duane, who learned about his windfall on his birthday, says he plans to use the cash to do home repairs and pay off Christmas debt.
The blog also noted that Duane had been aware of the app for years but only was able to download it when he purchased a compatible phone this fall. He says he now uses the app almost daily and especially appreciates both the quality of the broadcast and how it doesn�t drain his phone�s battery.
According to NextRadio�s blog, Duane also identified his favorite station as WXYT(FM), a CBS sports station in Detroit.
