BATON ROUGE, La. � PreSonus has promoted three employees: Executive Vice President of Marketing and Product Services Jim Boitnott has been named chief operating officer; Vice President of Sales Rick Naqvi is now senior vice president of global sales; and Vice President of Research and Development Bret Costin has been upped to senior vice president of R&D.
Boitnott first worked as a professional musician and taught in the music departments at several colleges and universities before he became president and CEO of Notion Music, developer of Notion and Progression music software. In 2013, PreSonus acquired Notion Music�s assets, and he was named EVP of product services at PreSonus. He added the EVP of marketing role in 2015. As COO, he is responsible for the overall internal operating activities of the organization.
Baton Rouge native Naqvi joined PreSonus as the company�s fourth employee in 1995, following four years as a sales associate at a local musical instrument and recording equipment retailer.
Costin has designed products and managed and directed product development at a variety of companies, including Avid, Compaq and M-Audio. He served as PreSonus� VP of R&D between 2010�12, helping to develop the AudioBox USB audio/MIDI interface, StudioLive 16.0.2 digital console, and StudioLive AI-series consoles. Costin returned for a second stint as VP in 2017 and continues to lead the company�s R&D efforts.
