WXLV 90.3 FM in Schnecksville, PA, has won the Broadcast Electronics “Flextreme Makeover” contest, qualifying the noncommercial station for a free BE AudioVAULT FleX automation software for its studios.�A panel of BE judges selected WXLV FM, which is part of Lehigh Carbon Community College, among several applicants in part because of the station”s unique operating environment and studio conditions, most notably its home-made automation system. The announcement was made during BE’s June 18 anniversary celebrating 50 years as the largest radio-only broadcast equipment manufacturer at its Quincy plant shared by friends and community. BE was incorporated on June 18, 1959.

Burk Technology has delivered its PPM Assurance automatic recovery system to Bonneville International. The system protects Arbitron PPM encoding uptime in the corporation”s St. Louis market, which includes stations WARH-FM, WIL-FM and WXOS-FM. St. Louis is among 13 Arbitron PPM markets scheduled to go live between now and the end of the year.

Macquarie Southern Cross Media (MSCM), one of the largest regional broadcasters in Australia, ordered eight Broadcast Electronics FM transmitters and one Broadcast Electronics AM transmitter for regional stations in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Among the transmitters ordered by the group are six STX LPs, which is scalable from 1kW to 5kW. The nine transmitters will replace older transmitters operating at stations in three regions.

NTP Technology has completed delivery of a digital audio switching and routing system for Spanish state broadcaster Radio Nacional de Espana (RNE). Installed at RNE’s Madrid headquarters, the system consists of 11 NTP 625 router frames with one main-frame and 12 sub-frames. Six of the sub-frames are equipped with analog I/O and six with AES/EBU I/O. Total matrix size is 1024 x 1024 including 384 stereo AES/EBU I/O connections and 384 transformer-coupled analog mono I/O connections.
