The annual convention and trade show of the Texas Association of Broadcasters is coming up in early August, and organizers have released the program details. This will be the 68th annual TAB show. It will be held at the JW Marriott in Austin on Aug. 2–3.
Some 1,400 annual registrants are expected, from radio and TV stations in the state and across the country. There’s a day and a half of training geared towards owners, managers, salespeople and engineers, as well as networking opportunities and an ample exhibit floor.
As we’ve reported, a new “Chief Operator for Radio Course” will be led by Gil Garcia and Steve Hasskamp, providing basic knowledge and understanding of responsibilities essential to maintain a station’s day-to-day operations as a chief operator.
Here’s a sampling of additional tech and management topics:
- Maria Kestner of Futuri will speak at multiple sessions including a discussion of ways that artificial intelligence can help stations “thrive on Main Street.”
- April Carty-Sipp of the NAB and Tim Hardy of Elenos Group will give an industry update on AM radio in the dashboard.
- Joe D’Angelo of Xperi will discuss DTS AutoStage and connected cars. Mark Aitken of One Media Systems will discuss the possible applications of ATSC 3 for radio.
- TAB ABIP inspectors Wayne Kube and Steve Sandlin will have tips on FCC inspections and how to prepare for them. And AR&D’s Jerry Gumbert and Earle Jones will discuss the media behaviors and attitudes of Texas consumers in a session called “Understanding Our Audience.”
Approximately 110 vendors will have exhibits. Those familiar to Radio World readers include Broadcast Electronics/Elenos, Broadcast Software International, BSW, Broadcasters General Store, Burk Technology, Dielectric, Digital Alert Systems, DJB Software, ENCO, ERI, Giesler Broadcasting Supply, Lawo, Myat, Nautel, Radio Resources, Radio.Cloud, RCS, RF Specialties, Rohde & Schwarz, SCMS, Synthax, Tieline, Wheatstone and WideOrbit.
