XM Satellite Radio has named former McCain staffer Bill Bailey, as XM's senior vice president of Regulatory and Government Affairs. Bailey was
Senator John McCain's former Commerce Committee senior counsel. He also served as the committee's lead Republican staff member on communications issues.
Prior to his work with the Senate Commerce Committee, Bailey was a senior advisor at the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Bailey began his government service in 1996 with the Common Carrier Bureau of the FCC.
After serving in a number of posts at the FCC, Bailey left government for legal and public affairs positions with two private telecom companies.
