German University Selects Sonifex S1 Mixer

Versatile digital, analog desk for small-scale broadcasters

German university Fachhochschule Kiel overhauled its studio facilities in 2012, which included adding a new mobile studio unit with a Sonifex S1 digital/analog radio broadcast mixer.

The Sonifex S1 mixer is a fixed format console designed for on-air use. It offers a broadcast solution to small-scale commercial, community, educational and student radio stations. The S1 features both analog and digital inputs and outputs allowing simultaneous local and Internet broadcasting.

“The Sonifex S1 is perfect, it meets all of our technical requirements: the size, technical properties such as the number of channels, diversity of audio connections, routing, measurement, programmability, intuitive usage and it looks and feels good too, said Arne Heyna, system engineer for vizacon GmbH, the firm responsible for the consultation, planning and installation. vizacon purchased the desk from Orange Tec, the Sonifex distributor in Stuttgart, Germany.

The S1 is a freestanding mixing console, 445mm x 400mm x 156mm deep, which can be fitted into a desktop or with optional 9U 19” rack ears. The console can also be controlled remotely via free Sonifex SCi software.
