11 More Infinity Stations Launch Streams

Mel Karmazin’s Infinity famously held back from a big presence online. Joel Hollander’s Infinity isn’t so reluctant.
Starting Monday March 14 the big broadcast owner will stream the audio of 11 more of its news and news-talk stations, according to Chairman/CEO Joel Hollander; other formats will be coming online later.
All-news station WCBS(AM) in New York had launched online in December. Now Infinity will stream 1010 WINS in New York, KFWB and KNX in Los Angeles, WBBM Chicago, KCBS San Francisco, KYW Philadelphia, WBZ Boston, and WWJ Detroit.
The company said its all-news stations reach 12 million listeners per week. WINS is the most listened to news station in the country.
News-talk stations KMOX St. Louis, KDKA Pittsburgh and KRLD Dallas will also be available via their station Web sites. All are AM outlets.
Hollander stated, “As more and more listening is being done away from home and the car, we must extend our stations beyond their dial positions to meet the needs of the consumer. We believe streaming our stations online will not only exceed their expectations, but will also create an outlet with which we can target a larger audience and increase time spent listening.”
