The 12th annual Public Radio Engineering Conference opens today in Las Vegas and Radio World is on-site.
This year’s event is taking place at Caesar’s Palace.
The theme of the conference is “Engineering in a Time of Budgetary Constraints – Doing More with Less.”
On tap today are discussions of NPR Labs projects, including its new broadcast coverage mapping system upgrades for the Public Radio Satellite System. Matthew Straeb of Global Security Systems will discuss using RDS for emergency alerting and Rick Ennis of NPR Digital Services and Jim Roberts of Broadcast Electronics will cover integrating social media and interactive services with broadcast technologies.
