Clear Channel snagged a notable sponsorship for its iheartradio mobile application this week.
It said that for May 18 and 19, Fox Broadcasting would be the exclusive sponsor of its iheartradio radio streaming application, which is in use on the iPhone and BlackBerry mobile devices. The reason is to promote the new TV series “Glee.”
Clear Channel Radio Sales President Jeff Howard said Fox has been innovative at using shorter-length spots, blinks and Web site takeovers.
Separately Clear Channel said late last week that iheartradio was the top application on the Blackberry. A spokeswoman also told RW that soon iheartradio will hit the 2 million download mark, including users of the iPhone and B’berry. She said the application is “bucking all kinds of engagement trends such as keeping and growing user attention.”
