'Radio Wayne' Cornils Is Dead

Wayne Cornils, the Radio Advertising Bureau’s executive vice president, meetings, died July 5 following a 12-year fight with cancer. He would have been 65 on Aug. 26.
“Wayne Cornils set the standard for professionalism in radio and we join with his family and the rest of the industry in mourning his passing,” said NAB President/CEO Eddie Fritts.
Cornils served on the NAB Board of Directors as Vice President of Radio Membership (1976 to 1978) before he was promoted to Senior Vice President of the NAB Radio Department through 1983. He moved to the RAB in 1983, then left to join Transtar Radio Networks six years later and returned to the RAB in 1991.
According to the RAB, his wife – Wendy Green; his children – Cathie, Carrie and Christopher and several grandchildren survive Cornils.
Services have not been announced yet and memorial contribution information will be available soon, according to the RAB.
