In his first White House press conference, President Barack Obama recognized broadcasters’ public service efforts in airing PSAs providing information on local food banks.
NAB President/CEO David Rehr thanked the president. In a letter also sent to media outlets, Rehr noted that broadcasters donate airtime for PSAs “that encourage people to take action against hunger, provide free financial guidance to homeowners in danger of losing their homes and inspire volunteerism.”
“Furthering the messages in these PSAs, local stations across the country are taking action by organizing countless food and clothing drives to address the immediate needs in their communities,” Rehr wrote.
